Sierra Madre Elementary School

SMCF award Sierra Madre Elemnetary School a grant of $2,090 for their new Farm to Table program.  Students have been planting, growing and harvesting their own food, usingthe school’s  current garden, which is a half circle located on the North side of the playground..  However, it does not provide enough space to allow all 24 classes to participate in the growing and harvesting process as only about 4-6 classes can harvest adequately from that space.

The grant allows SME tlo purchase 10 additional garden beds to bring the total to 19.  Their goal is to expand the garden to 24 raised beds so that each class has it’s own to be responsible for.
