Sierra Madre 9/10/2024 Event
The SMCF board members had a great time hosting a whiskey and wine tasting at the Hart House for the one time only 9/10/2024 Event! Tasty charcutier and dessert cups were also available. A big shout out to the Bottle Shop and Purposeful Prep who helped sponsor this event!
2024 Whiskey & Wine Event
This year's Sierra Madre Community Foundation's Whiskey & Wine Event was a great success even with the cold, windy, and rainy weather. Over 200 people attended which included over 24 of the finest whiskeys, 14 selections of fine wine, and delicious food. With this large event, we were able to raise a record of over $30,000. This money will be used to support grants for local activities, events, and programs. Special shout out to the Young Family for graciously opening their home, and Michael Osterman for their generous sponsorship of the event.
2024 Winter Festival
The SMCF board members had a blast discussing "who is the Sierra Madre Community Foundation and what exactly do you do? during this year's Winter Festival. It was a great event in which we were able to meet many new people!
Grant Recipient Update - Sierra Madre Public Library Summer Science Workshop
Some photos from the June 15 Summer Science Workshop: Lava Lamps, run by local teacher Dany Richey. This was held at the Temporary Library Parking Lot under our sun shade and had full attendance of 25 school-age children and their parents. Kids were able to make their very own Lava Lamps using oil and water to create the hydrophobic effect.

Grant Recipient Update - Sierra Madre Public Library - Bookmark Contest

Winners of the annual Library Bookmark Contest were announced during an award ceremony held on April 24, 2024 in the Sierra Madre City Council Chambers. A total of 251 students who live in Sierra Madre, go to school in town, or have a Sierra Madre Library card entered this year’s contest themed, “Sierra Madre Stories”. Four of the winning bookmarks were selected for printing and announced by special guests: Mayor Kelly Kriebs, Library Board of Trustee Chair Catherine Adde, Friends of the Sierra Madre Library President Julie Bencosme, and City Manager Jose Reynoso.
Grant Recipient Update - Sierra Madre Elementary School Farm to Table
SMCF provided a grant to help SME expand it's Farm to Table program to 10 additional garden beds. The students built the garden beds and planted seeds of carrots, lettuce, and beans before the winter break that are now sprouting.

2023 Firecracker Fun Run
Our third annual Firecracker Fun Run was a huge success. It was our largest turnout yet with over 200 registered runners! Special thanks to our sponsor Trader Joe's for the granola bars, Skylah Murray for singing our national athem, and to our MC, Fred Thomas for getting the party started. We hope you will join us next year as we run/walk to celebrate our freedom! Thank you for supporting the Sierra Madre Community Foundation!”

This year's Sierra Madre Community Foundation's Whiskey & Wine Event was a great success with great weather. 2022 Winter Festival
We have a great time meeting people and discussing what the Community Foundation does at this year's Winter Festival. Thanks to all who visited our booth and had a good time blowing some bubbles!
2022 Firecracker Fun Run
Our second year of hosting the annual Firecracker Fun Run was a great success! Nearly 180 participants ages 2 to 82 came out to enjoy the fun event.
Grant Recipient Update - Sierra Madre Public Library
Kids stretched their imaginations in the popular Summer Science Workshop program, funded by the Sierra Madre Community Foundation. Local teacher Dany Richey led a series of workshops teaching kids about the science behind solar, electric, hydro and wind power.
2022 Whiskey and Wine Event
After a year delay, The Sierra Madre Community Foundation's Whiskey & Wine Event was held on April 2nd at the stunning Mia Italia residence. This year's event had over 21 whiskey's and 8 wines and champagnes. 165 people attended, raising $12,000, which far exceeded last event's record of $8,700! It was great to see and meet so many people whose generous donations will be used to support grants for local activities, events and programs.
2022 Wisteria Festival
The Sierra Madre Community Foundation participated in this year's Wisteria Festival by having an information booth in Kersting Ct. It was a great day with lots of families stopping by to hear about the Foundation's mission and to play around with some bubbles!
2021 Mt. Wilson Trail Race
The Sierra Madre Community Foundation was onhand to watch this year's Mt. Wilson Trail Race. It started bright and early at 7:00 AM to avoid the heat. Kersting Court was full of people cheering the 187 participants in their challenging 8.6 mile run, shopping the local businesses, having a refreshment at the beer garden and listening to music. The Foundation is proud to support this great event!
Sierra Madre Community Foundation sponsors its first 4th of July Firecracker Fun Run!
With 170 participants, this year's Firecracker Fun Run was quite a success! The cloudy weather was perfect for the 3.2km run/walk, which was attended by adults, kids, babies and dogs. The Foundation raised more than $1,700 through enrollment fees and sponsorships. And we have exciting changes anticipated for next year!
July 3rd Block Party
The Sierra Madre Community Foundation participated in the city’s July 3rd Block Party. Look for us to attend other events including Oct. 16 when we’ll be out supporting the Mt. Wilson Trail Race.
Whiskey & Wine Event Raises More Than $8,700
What a night! The Sierra Madre Community Foundation's Whiskey & Wine tasting event at the historic Mia Italia residence raised the most money from a single event in the organization's 20-year history. The event’s $8,700 in net proceeds will be reinvested into the community via grants for local activities, events and programs. More than 150 residents and supporters attended the Feb. 22 event.
