Leslie Lopez

Sierra Madre immediately reminded me of my hometown in Colorado, where I grew up – and I knew I had to live here as soon as I saw it! We absolutely love the small town feel and special traditions that make Sierra Madre feel like a community, even in the most populous county. I hope to help Sierra Madre continue to be a special place.

Meet Leslie Lopez (Board Member Since 2024)

October 31, 2024

Why do you serve on the board of the SMCF?

After living in Sierra Madre for nine years (I still feel like a newcomer compared to the people who have been here for generations!), I decided I wanted to give back to this beautiful community. This is the perfect way to collaborate with others on how to keep this amazing place so special.

 Where else do you volunteer?

I’ve spent time volunteering at Kidspace Children’s museum, for the Department of Social Services, in a previous board position for medically complex children, and at the Gooden School, where my kids are enrolled.

 What’s your profession?

I am a client services representative at Oaktree Capital Management, a global alternative investment manager.

What attracted you to Sierra Madre?

I was raised in a small town in Western Colorado, which felt safe and nurturing. I wanted the same thing for my children.

How long have you lived in Sierra Madre?

 Nine years

What’s your favorite aspect of the town?

I love that you can walk anywhere and you’re almost guaranteed to bump into someone you know!

What’s your favorite local restaurant and why?

Yui Sushi. I’ve called so many times that they recognize my voice on the pickup – haha!

What’s your favorite local store and why?

Sierra Madre Music. It is run by two extremely talented professional musicians, Jessica Pierce and Almer Imamovic. They have so many fun programs and anyone can join in – even rock bands for adults!
