For Spring 2012, the Sierra Madre Community Foundation was happy to be able to join other community philanthropists in funding the ImaginArt program at Creative Arts Group.
ImaginArt is an art program offered at CAG that challenges the creativity and imagination of first through fifth grade students from Sierra Madre Elementary School with projects that meet the California State Visual and Performing Arts Framework as well as the Social Science Framework and/or the Open Court Literacy Program. A grant of $1,973 from the Foundation helped to cover the programming costs for the fifth graders who participated this year.
On June 4, Foundation Board Members Erica Blodgett and Gina Long attended a reception at Creative Arts Group along with other community members, representatives from other funding agencies, and CAG staff to see a selection of artwork that was created in this year’s ImaginArt classes. Learning & the Arts is one of the Foundation’s key focus areas for funding. In 2011, SMCF awarded a grant to CAG to purchase a new computer to assist with their programming and operations that serve children and adults throughout the community.
