The Sierra Madre Community Foundation made a first time grant of $3,800 to the Sierra Madre Playhouse in the Spring of 2012 to support the successful Fairy Tale Theatre program. The Playhouse, a treasure in the Sierra Madre arts scene, created the Fairy Tale Theatre program several years ago, and produces several different children’s plays throughout the year. Performances are on Saturday mornings and draw a large crowd of children and families who enjoy the interactive shows in the intimate setting.
The grant from SMCF sponsored this year’s production of “Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz”, and helped the company purchase new costumes, sets, and equipment. Foundation Chair, Erica Blodgett, joined the cast on the yellow brick road at a production in late June to present the grant in front of a packed house of children and families.
