Beloved Community Volunteer Builds Legacy with SMCF

Carrying on his tradition of support and commitment to Sierra Madre even after his passing, former SMCF Chair Eph Konigsberg left a bequest to the Sierra Madre Community Foundation to create a special fund in his name to support the professional development of the part-time employees at the Sierra Madre Public Library. His intention was to give part-time staff an opportunity to attend conferences and seminars that would benefit them personally and the library by enriching their experience. Eph believed that these valuable members of the library staff who interact with the patrons every day should have the same professional development opportunities as full-time staff.

The Foundation will serve as the trustees of this fund and work with the Library to find appropriate ways to use the funds each year and to maximize the long term impact of the bequest all in keeping with Eph’s wishes. This year a grant was made from the fund to allow several part-time employees attend the annual American Library Association conference held in Anaheim.

You can help ensure the longevity of his bequest by directing a donation to the Eph Konigsberg Fund at the Sierra Madre Community Foundation. Foundation Board Members would also be happy to speak with any individuals about planned giving options in support of the Sierra Madre Community Foundation.
